all about bim
Beacon Institute of Ministry provides a flexible, comprehensive quality education designed to prepare Christian workers without requiring them to move or travel to a residential college. The model is innovative in that the base of operation is a local learning center hosted within The local Church. The administrative structure includes a chancellor and a director over all of the local centers and an administrator appointed for each of the local learning centers.
BIM is a member of one of the fastest growing Educational Network in the country, a leader in innovative education. BIM brings the professors to you. The format will be either a live course in which the professor travels to the local church for a ten-hour course live presentation before a class student body or a video course in which students meet for instruction in a class setting via video presentation. Lectures are recorded in a state-of-the art studio at Columbus, Georgia so that the student has the sense of being right in the classroom. Students must listen to all lectures before taking the examination. On line education courses are for students who are unable or do not wish to attend the local learning centers. The instruction is offered through video CDs, DVDs or over the Internet. Each month Bible teachers from around the country travel to the local campus utilizing the facility of a local church to teach their courses.
The educational program is a Bible Theology base study with an emphasis in six major course divisions: Old Testament, New Testament, Biblical Theology, Practical Theology, Historical Theology, and Christian Counseling.
To receive a diploma, a student must take courses from all six divisions.
BIM, a non-denominational/Evangelical school, offers more than 150 courses taught by more than 80 scholars, professors and pastors.
All courses earn three credit units and include classroom instruction supported by pre-class and post class activities including collateral reading assignments and research projects and a comprehensive final examination.

BIM is not accredited with the U.S. Department of Education, nor will we seek accreditation unless it allows us the ability to operate in a manner free from outside control. We believe this stance is the only one that will allow us to remain open to the leading of the Holy Spirit while exercising our religious liberties.
We desire to continue in our independent standing so as not to compromise the integrity of the vision or direction the Lord has given to the leadership of BIM. Further, we believe the credibility of BIM is not in accreditation, but in the fruitfulness and surrendered lives of the students who have attended our courses.
Beacon Institute of Ministry of the Northwest is known for its excellence as a School of Theology. Our Graduates have successfully transferred our units to many Christian colleges and secular colleges around the country. If you have specific question about the transfer-ability of BIM coursework, contact the Registrar’s Office of the institution you desire to attend.

From the President and Chancelor
The primary commitment of the Beacon Institute of Ministry is to serve the local church and its leadership by enabling them to educate and prepare their members for Kingdom service. When the Lord called the Institute into being, it was understood by all of us in the formative stages that the Institute would be a hand maiden to the local church and pastor, to enable them to do with excellence what God called them to do in their communities.
Our product, therefore, is a Christian man or woman educated and trained to be capable of serving Christ in an exemplary and effective manner in any walk of life in today’s world. To this end we bring Beacon’s Institute of Ministry, its curriculum and faculty to the local church to be shepherded by the pastor because we believe that the proper setting for preparing people for Kingdom living and service is the local church.
Students who are unable to attend classes at one of our local church learning centers may receive the same instruction through our Distance Education Program.
We are pleased to present Beacon Institute of Ministry. These students are maturing into strong witnesses for Christ in their communities.
